Blog 38: Personal Anecdote

I decided that my Commonplace article would be about Celebrity images and if their public persona matches their private persona. Occasionally, I wonder is the person we see, hear, and read about is that real or just a convenient show? However, there are many mundane situations where this type of situation occurs all the time. For example, I feel that up until my sophomore year of High School I had a private and a public persona. I remember when I started my freshmen year of High School, is when i didn't have to where uniforms anymore. Therefore, I found myself being very creative with my outfits or "public self." I don't know if I felt that, that was my time to be free from restraint of being the person that i wanted to project to the rest of the world. However, starting my sophomore year, is when I began to be comfortable in who I was, my outfits became less, I guess you can say outrageous. So I began to realize that I didn't have to project such an outrageous image, which wasn't letting my true colors show. In conclusion, you have to be comfortable with who you are. Also, sometimes you have to learn to mesh both your public and your private selves together. You are who you are.
And so it is.

  1. This is my third year in America, and I began to be comfortable in who I was. In the first year, I always stood in front of hall way's mirror, and asked myself why I stood here. It is hard to find yourself when you leave your familiar envionmrnt and began a new life.
